The Retail Services department operates two retail stores and a Café on and off campus with the aim to provide the students with the finest quality, best value products and services, served in a stimulating and well-maintained environment.

The role of Retail Duty Manager within this department focuses on the operational management of the shop to meet financial targets and business objectives, ensuring staff provide the highest standards of customer service, whilst providing specialist support for the EPOS system throughout the department.

The RoleTo be responsible for the day-to-day operation and local maintenance of the retail computer system including end of day procedures, printing daily and weekly reports, updating the retail price file with new product listings and amendments, printing shelf labels for all shops.To liaise with EPOS supplier for maintenance and operational issues.To manage and develop the shop and its services, maximising sales and identifying areas for further operational potential effectively and efficiently.To have responsibility for all merchandising and pricing in accordance with Retail procedures.To have responsibility for all cash and stock procedures.To lead and develop the team, assisting the Retail Services Manager with recruitment and induction, identifying training needs and delivery of training and coaching, performance management and discipline and grievance procedures effectively and efficiently.To plan staff rotas, ensuring adequate cover for absences, monitoring sickness and conducting back to work interviews.To be responsible for Health and Safety of staff and customers, undertaking risk assessments and audits.To ensure compliance with HACCP documentation.To action faulty equipment reports/repairs.To assist staff from other shops and departments as required and any other duties that may reasonably be expected by the Retail Manager.The PersonGood Communication and Leadership SkillsAbility to operate autonomouslyStrong Team playerProfessional, polite and helpfulEfficient and productiveFlexibility to working hoursFriendly and approachable personalityQualifications/Knowledge/ExperienceLevel 2 food hygiene certificateLevel 2 Health & SafetyRetail experience in a fast moving convenience sectorHours of WorkAny 5 days from 7 including evenings and weekendsNo additional payments or allowances and no contractual entitlement to overtime. This is a Grade 3 role and is remunerated at £27,456.00 per annum. (£13.20 per hour). No additional payments or allowances and no contractual entitlement to overtime.
