Job Summary

A Healthcare Assistant provides essential support to residents in a nursing home, helping them maintain their dignity, independence, and overall wellbeing. The role involves assisting with daily personal care, monitoring health conditions, and supporting nursing staff in delivering high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

Assist residents with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toiletingHelp residents with mobility, including transferring, walking, and using mobility aidsSupport residents with eating and drinking, including feeding where necessaryMonitor and record vital signs (e.g., temperature, pulse, blood pressure) as directedObserve and report any changes in residents’ physical or mental health to nursing staffProvide emotional support and companionship to residentsMaintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environmentAssist with recreational and social activitiesFollow care plans tailored to each resident’s needsAdhere to health and safety regulations, infection control, and safeguarding policiesSkills and Qualifications

Previous experience in a care or healthcare setting (preferred but not always required)NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (desirable)Good communication and interpersonal skillsCompassionate, patient, and caring natureAbility to work as part of a teamBasic literacy and numeracy skillsPhysical ability to assist with manual handling tasksPersonal Attributes
